Here’s why.
Have you ever wondered how a loyalty program like the Miles & More frequent flyer program works? Sure, you collect points or miles and redeem them for rewards. But not just you. Other customers collect a total of about 30 million points at Miles & More, or even over 100 million with other providers. That’s a lot of customer data to protect and tons of transaction data that has to be booked securely and in real time, not to mention infinite possibilities to communicate with participants individually or in groups.
Most airline loyalty programs are also multi-partner programs, meaning you can cooperate with other airlines or collect and redeem with hotels, restaurants, car rental services, and many, many more non-air partners. One loyalty program then must incorporate different time zones, languages, currencies, and collection and redemption options — you can even donate points for a good cause or be rewarded for using environmentally friendly offers.
In short, the technology behind a customer loyalty program must be powerful, precise, secure and scalable; should offer a comprehensive, flexible set of rules; and has to seamlessly embed itself in the IT landscape of our customers and their partners.
