Starting the Week with AWS: Agentic Aviation
Our week began on October 12 at AWS @ World Aviation Festival, hosted by our partner AWS under the theme “Agentic Aviation: Redefining Retailing & Operations with AI.”
Conversations with airlines and technology partners highlighted three themes:
- Agentic AI is becoming practical: Applications in customer service, ticket booking and ancillary sales show how AI can improve experiences and efficiency.
- Cloud, data and AI are advancing retailing and operations: Connected technologies are enabling more relevant customer engagement and smarter airline processes.
- Partnerships turn ideas into opportunities: Exchanges with AWS and other aviation technology partners, including at the 22-partner expo, highlighted the importance of collaboration.
The pre-event set the tone for the discussions that followed throughout the festival.
World Aviation Festival: Connecting the Industry
From October 13–15, more than 4,500 aviation leaders and 600 speakers gathered in Lisbon. Across 16 conference tracks, topics ranged from AI and payments to customer experience, airline retailing and loyalty.
A recurring question was how airlines can use technology and customer data to create relevant experiences while protecting trust and delivering commercial value.
Three Key Airline Loyalty Trends
AI Must Deliver Measurable Value
AI is moving beyond experimentation. Airlines increasingly need to show how investments improve customer engagement, efficiency and commercial performance.
Personalization Depends on Trust
AI and customer data can make experiences more relevant, but transparency, customer control and the human connection remain essential.
Loyalty Is Becoming More Connected
Loyalty is increasingly linked to airline retailing, revenue management and the wider customer journey, creating opportunities for stronger engagement and sustainable growth.
Looking Ahead: Airline Loyalty in 2027
A highlight for LPS was the panel “Strategy in a Changing Commercial Landscape – What Will Define the Airline Loyalty Industry as We Move into 2027?”
David Glantz (Link zu Autorenseite), Director Business Development & Consulting at LPS, joined leaders from Abra Group, TAP Air Portugal, Azul and Emirates Group to discuss evolving customer expectations, AI and commercial complexity.
The discussion reinforced the need for adaptable technology and better integration of loyalty across the customer journey – turning data into relevant decisions and lasting value.
Our Takeaways from Lisbon
From agentic operations to more personalized customer engagement, the week showed how quickly aviation is evolving.
For airline loyalty, the opportunity lies in connecting AI, data and technology with customer trust and measurable business value.
At LPS, we look forward to helping airlines build flexible, future-ready loyalty programs – and to continuing the conversations started in Lisbon.
